This photo captures a rhino calf at Kapama Private Game Reserve. 
 
My aim was to convey the subject’s value without having the viewer look down on it, which lead me to positioning myself at the base of a hill to capture the photo at eye level. 
 
The rhino’s intact horn enhances the photo’s beauty, as rhinos with horns are rare due to poaching. In the background, the mother rhino stands, always ready to protect her calf. 
 
This photo highlights the preciousness of these animals and emphasises the importance of their protection.
